Kern County Animal Control currently adopts to the public puppies and kittens unaltered with vouchers. $3,100,000 is the current budget for Animal Control and is steadily rising. In the last year alone 26,354 animals were impounded. Of those 21,083, a staggering 80% of surplus animals were euthanized. Preventable births contribute to an already existing problem of too many animals and not enough homes.
