Hi, my name is Shelley Mulholland and I am a Board Member and Chief Financial Officer of TREAT
I have always loved animal; they bring so much love and joy into my life. I became involved in animal welfare when I volunteered at the local shelter about 4 years ago. I became frustrated and very upset with the way the animals were being treated. At that time, very few animals made it out, most were killed. I wanted to do more, so I started pulling Boxers out of the shelter for Boxer Rescue and then other breeds. I receive great comfort in knowing they are happy and safe. Just taking dogs out of the shelter was not good enough, a hundred more were behind them with no end in sight. When I was given the opportunity to become part of TREAT, I was thrilled! An answer to a problem to help our animals here in Kern County.
I have two Boxers and one Staffordshire mix I named Lucy; and yes, my Lucy is a pound puppy! She's one
of the best dogs I have ever had! She's very sweet and I would like to train her to be a therapy dog.
Missy, I got as a puppy ten years ago from a backyard breeder. At that time, I didn't understand how awful
it was for the dogs and the pups. Missy is badly bred and has health issues that usually come from bad
breeding, but she's mine and I love her very much. The newest addition to our family is Stan. We got
Stan about six months ago from Boxer Rescue L.A. (BRLA).
He's a senior with health issues and probably
won't be with us much longer, but at least I know what time he has left has been full of love, comfort
and happiness. Stan has given us so much love and joy. It's been so rewarding to help this wonderful
senior. Please read about our senior story on our website!
I hope all that read our TREAT website are encouraged to get involved and make a difference for our animals here in Kern County. Please be a part of the solution.
Sincerely,
Shelley Mulholland
